Experienced Crafting
To give you a little insight into what Quirky Woodwork is all about, here’s a potted version of the background and project scope of the company.
James is a Cabinetmaker with 30 years of experience and qualifications in Fine Furniture Making from design through to completed crafting and finishes. With a range of employment environments in his background, James has experience of working in bespoke fine crafting for individuals in domestic settings and also for much bigger organisations in commercial premises, so he is skilled in bespoke furniture creation on both a small and large scale.
Quirky Woodwork is a return to James’s crafting roots: working with commissioning clients to create bespoke pieces and one-off items and – when time allows – crafting gift items for sale in the Quirky on-line shop.
Project Insights
Quirky Woodwork has outgrown the first Quirky Workshop – a gorgeous hobbit hut style building with wildflower turf roof – and is now housed in the bigger and better Quirky Workshop Mark 2 which allows for the scale of project to increase considerably too!
While we are currently working on a number of commissions, we would love to hear from you if you have a project that you would like to chat about. We would be happy to begin the design process and provide a detailed quotation for you to see your idea come to life. We source our timber, locally where possible, to suit the demands of each project to ensure your bespoke item is crafted in the best wood for the purpose it will serve. And, of course, to make sure it is that wonderful combination of practical, functional and beautiful.
I’ll be honest – the workshop phone will often go unanswered unless it relates to an active job – time is precious and we look very favourably on people who get in touch by email so that we can arrange a good time to chat over things when noisy machinery isn’t running!
